Artist Statement
Within my work I focus upon the material and immaterial of ‘ready-made’ objects as well as there constructed forms. I explore the intrinsic nature of how material affects our perception upon the visual language, the body of my work being an attempt to create altered perceptions of language rather than an alternate language. In my practise I use materials that holds value within its content, and by instigating the process layering the information becomes silenced and from this, new information is established.
I attempt to make aware the flexibility upon the echoes of the existing object, in an attempt to mould the pre-existing to new meanings. As a mixed media artist I work largely within digital manipulation and physical assemblage of pre-existing images. I work consciously to explore the notion of apperception and nascency, which is what is reflected in my work.
